Why get your hands dirty when that's the job of the "little people"?
The attitude that kills me is, "My workday is done. Here are all the tasks I've accumulated throughout the day - Make sure they're completed before you leave."
Hello! I work the same hours YOU do. Where was all this shit at 10 am?
Yes! We can give that to you, although the answer we were looking for was "The U.S. Govenment".
These changes are meant to "clear the books" for the next fiscal year. What's utterly stultifying is the fact that this is a forseeable event, yet Applications consistantly reacts as if it came to their attention yesterday, leaving everyone to scramble at the last minute. Just as bad is the tunnel vision with which the changes are prepared, making no allowance as to how their change will affect other jobs or general system availability.
The last bit I had to deal with was scheduling three jobs into tomorrow's batch run. Not a difficult task, except that it arrived at my desk at 4:15pm, and my work day ends at 4:30. This, from a department manager, no less. Grrrr....
Sounds like you have a Weasel boss. The type that makes his/her subordinates work their asses off all week long and he/she ends up with all the credit.
I suggest you go here www.dilbert.com and find out how much your work area resembles that one.
It might be tempting to blame this all on my boss, except that he's not the source, nor is he in control of when and how many changes come down to us at any time
