I have been reminding many individuals of late, that our Founders actually wrote a life-span into the basic structure of our constitution and form of govt and that was approximately 150 years. They had thought in that time that we would have found a better manner in which to govern ourselves than they had originally laid out. it's a shame so few Americans are actually aware of this and are trying to preserve something that was already obsolete when we celebrated our bicentennial in 1976.

Yes, very good point -- I've read of that before and I always forget about it too. OTOH, I'm kind of glad we didn't try rewriting things right in the middle of the Civil War and Reconstruction :)
