Snippet Nine from Outer Space

or, Yes, I did adopt this naming convention just to get to a lame punchline that would be funny only to me.

notpoetry requested Kon/Bart. (or Wally/Bart, but that broke my brain too much.)

This is set in the Titans future of eeeevil. Nothing graphic.

Snippet the ninth )

warning: none, writing: snippet, character: bart allan, character: kon-el

I'm not very coherent right now, but this really was wonderful.

I find Kon's name, and what other people call him, very significant. I mean, just the fact that for a long time, his only name was "Superboy", and then he gets his Kryptonian name, which is family and heritage (and a nod to both sides, thank you Clark, when the orginal Kon-El fought for the rights of clones), and that makes him happy...

And then he has Conner Kent, which is not him. Except Cassie calls him Conner all the time, and maybe Conner is who they'd like him to be, but...

Argh, now I want to go back and read all teh Titans and chart the naming (you know, Kon doesn't call Tim, Tim, until after his temporary retirement. He's always Robin before that).

I wonder if the writers of the various series wherein Kon has appeared have really thought of the significance of his name. Seems like to me if he was trying to protect his identity now he wouldn't go by Conner, he'd stick with Kon. And for some reason it really bugs me when Cassie calls him Conner. It seems like that name is tied to everything Kon hates: having to live in the sticks, having to blend, just everything that keeps him from being Superboy all the time.
Also, the fic was damn fine. Bart's wall-walking was very cool, and definitely something that he would spend the time perfecting. And Kon needs to kiss him more. I'm sure of it.

Yeah, I'm with you. It'd be cool if I thought the writers were doing it on *purpose.*

Glad you liked.

I want that to be what's going on, but I'm afraid that it's just going to be a costume change that's never discussed, "this is who I am, now." But yeah, to me, he's Kon. And I think the Titans should be able to see that too.

I miss when Kon called Tim Rob. Now he calls him Tim in situations where I think Tim should be a little upset with him for blurting it out.

I like this a lot. I love the bit about Bart running around on the walls and timing it right for the eyes, that was a nice touch of character there. Also, just an FYI, but I friended you so.

Being a gigantic geek pays off! Glad you like it, and thanks for telling me you're friending me. Now I will feel compelled to meet your expectations. (Actually, thanks for *not* friending me after "Able to Succeed" because I don't think I could have met those expectations.)

*GLEE*

Oh, my god, this was PERFECT. Bart's wall-walking is such a great little detail and oh, my god, it hurt that Kon didn't remember Greta or "Mr. Sarcastic" and oh, man, this was just lovely.

I'm so pleased you liked it. (cannot produce smileys as she is dumbomygod)

I don't know why but (to me) Young Justice was the casualty of the eeeevil future Titans, more than the Titans really were.

Woah,

That pretty much sums it up for me. But future!Bart does get super-loving, so I guess that makes up for the whole evil land they live in thing.
