Except Simon, who is not doing a good impersonation of a heterosexual

Oh, Adam Hughes, why can't I quit you?

He will say the most obnoxious things, but I do love his art.

This image, here is, yes, saved on his server as DC_babes.jpg, and does, as always, look rather boobtastic, but guys.  GUYS.  Peej's boob window in a context where it makes senseAnd then, even more wonderfully, the crew of firefly, as you've never ( Read more... )

Yes, it's why I'm always tongue-in-cheek about spoofing his Catwoman covers. In between the retarded ones, he usually does spiffy Action Girl ones. In between foot-in-mouth disease, he draws awesome fashion shot poses in which characters can be identified, even sans costume. (I didn't need the name list to ID everyone). And yes, I thought putting Selina in black and white, like the heroic drifter from an old western, with the white coat and black hat, was darn cute, too. To be honest, I think he generally does a good job pandering to what is, often, a polarized audience base.

I mean, not unproblematic, and not like, "wow, he's so feminist!" But a really good artist.

Oh my god! The Firefly pic literally made my heart skip, what with the Wash/Zoe hand clasp and Jayne and Book being all full of cigar-grins.

I love how Selina wore the black dress. Somebody told her the color scheme for the shoot, and she just *had* to be contrary.

(In my fanon, Babs and Diana handed her the white wrap. Smiling oh-so-politely. And Selina rolled her eyes and said, "Oh, *fine.*")

Is it just me, or are some of the heads in the Firefly picture weirdly sized?

I'd have to pull out the ol' ruler to check, but it looks like they're drawn closer to "real life" scale as opposed to "comics" scale, where heads are smaller and the bodies much taller/wider in proportion. It looks about right (Mal looks closer to comics proportions, actually, given his shoulder width), but jumping from Hughes regular, slightly-exagerrated comics proportions it is a little jarring.

Or wait, did you mean the one sort of straddling the chair. Based on her shirt, I think that's Lois.

And, um. It's been pointed out to me that that's not Lois, it's Kate Kane aka Batwoman.

Which is... well, I was thinking "Of course Lois would wear a dress shirt and pants, what a great nod to her personality," but apparently the rationale was, instead, "Lesbians don't wear dresses, they wear pants."
