DC, jeez, I know you tend to make up stuff as you go alone, but that's even dumber than making her handwave-Asian and calling her Shiva.
I could -- kind of -- go with "Sandra is her English name," so it was sort of an alias that she adopted as a child because English speakers have trouble with her real name.
You could make a case for "she tells anglos that her name is Sandra, because it's easier for them to say." But a) not so much, and b)Carolyn also has an English name and no other and c) DC occasionally in secret histories and origins type things actually refers to her as a Sandra.
