Has anyone else noticed a surge in comment spam, over the last month or so, or have I just become unbearably sexy to some kind of algorithm which calculates desirability of spam placement?

Did you recently post something that's been linked a lot? I had to disable anonymous comments a while ago to avoid getting three or four spam comments per day sometimes, which was just too aggravating with the inconvenient comment deletion on LJ.

Not recently, but it does seem to be old posts that were getting linked consistently that were the hardest hit.

The sweet potato post (on my other LJ; I can link you if you want) has always gotten more than its fair share of comment spam, but, yeah, the last month has been above average. This LJ isn't getting more than usual, though.

I know and love your sweet-potato post. Sometimes I go over and scratch it behind the ears. No linking is necessary.
