So, if you're not into comics, I'm not sure I can convey the ridiculousness and surpassing beauty of Rob Liefeld criticizing Alan Moore for being a diva. But if you show the vaguest signs of interest, I'll be happy to attempt it. At length. For everyone else: Dinosaur comic-form. (src)

Why didn't anyone tell me that Whedon had an awesome Read more... )

I would love it if you felt like attempting to explain that. So far, making comics fandom people explain the more ridiculous parts of their fandom has always been worth it. Comics bring the very best crack.

Well, first you have to understand that Alan Moore is mad. Barking mad. He practises a snake based religion of his own devising or possibly that he's resurrected from history I'm actually a bit unclear on its source. But it doesn't really matter. Because he's brilliant. He's never written anything bad: the worst he's ever managed is "controversial." He's considered to have completely changed comics just by writing Watchmen.

Ron Liefeld is famous for nearly ruining comics. He established the style that prevailed for much of the nineties, which resulted in an orgy of crosshatching on faces, nearly obscuring features, spines so deformed they make lordosis look healthy, muscles where muscles should not go, wangs where wangs should not go… I haven't gone into his fetish for insanely detailed costumes covered in pouches, or his inability to draw hands and feet, but those figure in there somewhere too. Also, he once marketed a figurine that sold as "Rob Liefeld's nine inch Shaft." Basically, a ridiculous person ( ... )

It's like if Laurell K. Hamilton tried to criticize the professionalism of Ursula K. LeGuin.

...holy crap, I love you.

(Because, YES.)

The fact that those are the two literary extremes in my world says a lot about my reading habits, I think.

I adore Rob's big drama of "I'll never work with that man again!" as though this was some sort of threat.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
