MEMAGE

Hey, kids, want to play the game where you ask me to describe a canon I've never watched and I describe it based on my impression of it from the internet?

Not worth you asking me about:
Buffy
Angel
Star Trek original series
Firefly
Babylon 5
Heros
M.A.S.H.
Due South
...others as they occur to me.

How about Jeremiah? Babylon 5? Due South? (throwing out a couple in case you've seen one)

Jeremiah I can do! The others, not so much.

Hunh, okay, Jeremiah sounds really vaaaaaaaugly familiar, and I think it might be about a town that remains after the apocalypse, but then again, that might be Jericho.

In which case, I have no idea what Jeremiah is about.

I hope you can't do the others because you've watched them, otherwise I'd be kind of appalled, actually....

The town thing is Jericho. Jeremiah is also post-apocalyse, but there wasn't a nuclear war. Just all adults, that is everybody who's gone through puberty, died of a plague (well except for a few adults hiding out secretly who come into play later), the origin of which the survivors aren't too clear about. The series takes place 15 years after that, it is has interesting worldbuilding, about what kind of knowledge the kids managed to salvage, how they organized themselves in different locations, how they are trying to work with and against each other, what kinds of bastardized cults cropped up, etc. and obviously all the survivors have been rather traumatized too. It is awesome. Oh and they are all very pretty too.

Yes, I'm sorry. B5 and DS I watched pretty much when they first came out, and Benton Fraser was my first TV crush, so you may draw conclusions about my age from that.

Jeremiah, eh? When did this come out? I seem to have missed it completely.

Heavens. I think it's about… opposing clans of… kinda like ninjas, only with mystical… power… things? That are inherited? I think there's a princess with a silly name, so I assume she's spunky?

Hmmm how about StarTrek: Voyager?

…I believe it to be about the adorable adventures of a beagle in space. He is accompanied by a sexy Vulcan lady who goes into Ponn Farr like, once a week, and Sam from Quantum Leap who has somehow fooled everyone into thinking he's the captain.

OH RIGHT.

Well, I believe Voyager to be about Captain Janeway's Sexy Space Adventures with her crew of devoted submissives, except for the doctor, be cause that's gross.

Princess Tutu and Full Metal Alchemist

Full Metal Alchemist is apparently about the gay, gay love between a boy and his robot brother. I have no idea how that works, but as his robot brother wears a fundoshi, perhaps he does have something to hide.

I've actually seen Princess Tutu but am still so confused I feel it is fair to participate with it here.

It is about a girl, who is occasionally a duck, and her hopeless crush on a boy. She is sexually harassed by a cat. Sometimes there is a creepy old man who stalks her. Um. And there is ballet.

Yay Princess Tutu. I find it so sad that no one will write me more of the story -- do you guys all just want to leave them there?

FMA. Well, it's not like you're wrong about fandom, though I can't imagine how you missed the gay love of a short teenager for his sarcastic military commander. Also, magic that always makes you pay full price. I should see more of this one, I stopped in second season but I've no reason to think it doesn't continue very high quality.

Battlestar Galactica?

So, a long time ago in a galaxy far far away, humanity learnt that if you make your toasters too smart, they will hate you for all those forks you stuck in them when the toast got stuck.

Then they will hunt you down, burn down your planet, and run over your dog. And then infiltrate your escape vehicle with sexy toaster-bots.

There's Apollo and Starbuck. Starbuck is sexy and smokes cigars and is sexy and there are also wifebeaters and sexy. Except when she's a man. Apollo is always a man, so there's no confusion there.

Oddly, Apollo and Starbuck do not seem to be all with the longing glances and UST, which is what I would have expected, but there you go.

That was remarkably accurate! Apollo and Starbuck did have some UST, but that seems to have faded under the weight of impending extinction and also them both being in other relationships.

I'm told that there is a fair amount of Apollo/Starbuck slashiness going on in the original, as well as Mormonism.
