I did the DVD commentary meme for askmehow

If you have not already read Aspire to touch the sky. (Bruce/Diana, R) please do not read this, as I take care to highlight all its faults and that's a terrible first acquaintance. My comments in colour, I include some of my discussions with my betas, Mael, and Jam.

My excitement cannot be textually rendered!!!

I have yet to read this to the end, but this made me laugh out loud:
Influences: [...] Georgette Heyer's entire oeuvre, especially A Civil Contract, and The Convenient Marriage. (I blush)
Whyfor the blushing? Georgette Heyer's great. This is, I suspect, why all my literature professors look askance at me. Oops.

It's so heteronormative, she wails! Well, I did my best not to be, but.

Hey, it's for a Good Cause: Diana hasn't been laid since dinosaurs roamed the earth a Really Long Time ago! It's practically public service at this point, Betty.

Now, please take a moment to imagine Diana and Bruce at Mt. Rushmore, or Yosemite National Park. [Pause] Thank you for your time.

I did. I imagine it would make YJ's trip to Mt. Rushmore look pretty low-key.

And I would absolutely be okay if you had totally written this for the line about Diana becoming fond of Bruce's phallus, so not completely true is okay as well. I would pat this Bruce's phallus fondly, but Diana might rip my arms off.

God I had so much fun writing this story, when I wasn't bashing my head against the wall.

Bruce: "This is uh. A geyser or something. It errupts."

Diana: "Very... nice."

Wait, have you read the actual story? You shouldn't read my showing off all the dings and nicks version first!

Oh, yeah, I read it when I was up in Montana, I'm pretty sure. Whenever and where ever it was, I read it when it first came out. And I think I re-read it about a month ago, too (I'm one of those weird people who rarely reads things only once).

I think the details add artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

*splort!* You should add that to your list of influences.
