Summary: The promised they made should be fulfilled. Yet a person halted him right when he was about to proceed. Would he do it at last, or would he break the promise instead?
Still on the same stance, he hugged his knees tighter, bringing it closer to his chest. Tears were about to stream down from his black circled eyes, but his pride won against the never ending sadness. Endless silence overwhelming the messy room completely and it was not like it would be broken anytime soon.
At least not until a loud bell was heard. Ignoring it was the policy he chose, so he did nothing, not even when his nails had created red marks on his leg. Instead he kept his position still, fingers made more contact with his bare skin, head lowered even more. But another sound broke the deafening silence, repeated over and over.
Tegoshi groaned in frustration, slowly helping himself to get to his feet. Standing up firmly at last, he went directly to the door, both hands shoved inside his jeans pocket.
Once reaching the door, he pulled it, letting a yawn passed his throat. With his soulless eyes, he stared at the guest, an older guy with short black hair and bags under his eyes, face looked awfully familiar. Tegoshi's eyes widened in surprise, jaw dropped. It was too apparent to be ignored and the guest immediately took the liberty to push the door and step inside the apartment room, securing himself a seat on the fluffy coach which apparently was still hot, a proof that someone other than him had spent a moment in this couch right before him. It was nothing he should care about, though.
Realization struck Tegoshi and he closed the door immediately. His annoying attitude disappeared to the thin air, replaced by awkwardness feeling. Unable to start a conversation yet on the other hand he knew that the silence would kill him if it was continued.
"Do sit down." The guest said in a demanding tone, staring straight at him with his black eyes. Tegoshi obediently did it, adjusting himself on a seat in front of the guest, eyes looking down to escape the piercing gaze. He was the owner of the room, but it seemed like the role of a host and a guest had been switched.
An inept quiet occupied the entire room. He could feel his sweaty palms feeling so itchy though he had to hold the urge to make even the slightest movement. The white ceramic on the floor was the only sight his eyes caught yet he could clearly feel another eyes observing him, like an eagle looking at its prey.
"Is that your way to greet your guest?"
Slowly but sure, Tegoshi raised his head, meeting the pair of eyes directly. "R-Ryo. I-I'm sorry." he stuttered under the unseen pressure weighing him.
"Sorry? For what?" The demanding question was asked straight.
Not even an answer he could give. Tegoshi was left with his own confusion and fear. "S-Sorry..."
"Need I repeat my question, Yuya?"
Lowering his head, Tegoshi bit his lower lip. A coward he might be but he didn't care.
Not satisfied with the silent given as the answer, Ryo tapped the table with his finger, putting Tegoshi in a lot more pressure than before. "Don't say that it is about my sister."
If ever there was someone Tegoshi feared the most, it should be Miki's only older brother, Nishikido Ryo. Born under the same surname but Ryo was taken by his and Miki's mother's family to become the successor of the business. A genius guy, Ryo was charming and attractive with his amazing brain, making him a role model Tegoshi looked upon to.
Now that a part of him felt guilty over Miki's death, Tegoshi couldn't help to fear of Ryo. A dangerous guy. Tegoshi knew well not to mess things up with him, not when Ryo could overpower him easily. "I-It's my fault."
A released breath was heard, Tegoshi knew well not to say anything anymore even though he knew that there should be nobody other than Ryo with that heavy breath. "You're pathetic."
At the comment, Tegoshi quickly raised his head, gawking at Ryo with widened eyes.
"The way your brain works is wrong." Another comment was thrown, as harsh and sharp as ever, not even a pity was given to the younger guy he called pathetic. "That way, you're only putting all the fault to Miki. Stop acting as if you are heart wrenched the most. We are all mourning over her. We are her main family, connected by blood, love. It's not only you."
Tegoshi's lower lips started to bleed when the teeth forced a contact with the soft skin. "I-I..."
"I despise you now, Yuya. No, you are not worthy calling that. You should stop acting like this, Tegoshi - san. From this day on, I'm cutting your tie with my sister. Your acts simply make her miserable life even worse." Harsh words ended everything, tearing a deep scar on one's heart. Sometimes, it's necessary.

Another day with sun shining brightly, giving a nice warm feeling at the city of Tokyo. Sea of people occupied the long big road of Shibuya, legs kept on walking in a fast pace without even taking a second to stop unless for certain businesses.
Tegoshi was one of the guy among the crowd, walking without any definite destination along the road. While the others had their eyes full of emotion, his were the complete different. No desire, no sadness, no anger, happiness was out of question - the black round eyes remained as accessories to complete his face, only to help with his sight. His small thin body swayed when a wind blew. He just didn't hold the control of it.
He walked, walked, and walked. No destination, no sightseeing, no purpose. The only thing he did was simply moving his legs steadily, while his confused mind was far from peace. There were too many things going around inside his head, from Miki's death to their promise, his friends and Ryo's warning. It gave him a headache every time he tried hard to understand it all, means he was unable to start sorting thing out as the pain was overwhelming and full of misery. At the end he grew tired of it, ditching it, decided that keeping his mind on the same subject over and over wouldn't help at all.
That was how he found himself in the road, in search for a distraction, or conclusion even better. Yes, he hadn't been able to find it. People walked passed him or he walked passed them, fancy and colourful things were all around the road either being displayed or not - none of it caught his slightest interest.
Unless when someone awfully familiar with the annoyingly attitude which gave him a bad impression on their first accidental meeting. And that was exactly what suddenly happened to Tegoshi who gaped with his dropped jaw over a certain well built guy, who was not in white robe anymore, inside a cafe, sitting side by side with a girl. Initially, he wanted to ignore that guy, but something else was growing inside him, and when he realized it he had approached the small round table, standing right beside it, with a smirk coming out of nowhere plastered on his ghost-like-face.
"A young doctor in a date. That is pretty amusing." he mumbled with the obvious mocking tone.
There was no response, at least that was what he thought since when he moved his head, lowering it a bit to see what kind of expression Yamapi wore, he saw a strange wide smile which origin was unknown. As long as he remembered, what he said was meant as sarcasm, not praise or a joke. Yet the bright wide curve was there, decorating the supposedly-handsome-face-but-Tegoshi-refused-to-admit.
"Oh, hello, wait..." Yamapi tapped his chin, trying to pronounce the name which lied on the tip of his tongue. "Tegoshi - kun, am I right?" he looked at the younger boy, asking for his confirmation. "It's such a coincidence to meet you here, while I think you've mistaken something. I'd love to have a female company who gives me any romance feeling though unfortunately, it'll be called an incest if that's the case with this girl." he stole a glance at the girl while grinning. "Let me introduce you to my younger sister, Rina."
The girl gave a smile to him while Tegoshi couldn't help to give a small nod and smile, though the smile faltered immediately, remembering that she was the male physician's sister. "Tegoshi Yuya." he mumbled fast.
"Jaa, I'll go now, nii - chan. Don't forget to go home sometimes." the girl suddenly gave her farewell, smiling to him before disappearing from his sight, leaving a big question mark above Tegoshi's head.
"Would you like to sit, Tegoshi - kun?" Yet another voice distracted him and Tegoshi unusually became so obedient, claiming the now vacant seat immediately. "Order, anything?" Yamapi handed the menu to the younger boy while sipping his own drink.
"No, thank you." Tegoshi shoved the paper away, snorting. "Ah, and you don't need to pull off an act anymore. Your sister is nowhere in sight now."
Yamapi twitched his brow in confusion before letting a laugh. "Act? I'm not acting, Tegoshi - kun. Don't say that you are still holding the grudge over the last incident." he continued his laugh which eventually died down as the serious expression on Tegoshi's face remained still. "Oh, you are? I'm sorry for laughing over it, but I won't say sorry for what I've done. I still think the same way, life is precious."
"Even when you know nothing?" Tegoshi unexpectedly asked, out of his curiousity.
"Yes. That was the reason why I become a doctor, to save life. Yours is included." he stated clear and straight, not even a hesitation was seen. A sudden thought though suddenly came upon him. "You can share your trouble with me actually. Who knows if I might be a real help. You can come to see me anytime, including the hospital."
"Hmm..." Slowly but sure, his pale lips curved a smirk. "Did you really mean it? I mean, with your exclamation?"
"Yes?" Yamapi fretted his brows, wondering where the hell Tegoshi got his sudden enthusiasm.
"Do not regret it, will you."
"Yes?" Yamapi's confidence slowly foiled, not knowing what kind of devil had been waiting for him.

knock... knock...
"Please, come in."
The door was slowly opened, revealing a nurse and his last patient for the day who stepped inside immediately. Yamapi, occupied by the form which had just been filled, slowly moved his head to face the patient presented to him, taking the file from the nurse's hand. "So, what kind of complaint you would like to say Nishi--" his eyes widened in surprise, turning around instantly only to meet the face he had known for years. "Ryo - chan!"
"Yo, Pi!" Ryo greeted back with a wide grin. "How have you been lately? A good doctor, eh?"
"You're mocking me, right?" Yamapi immediately abandoned the clear file which he sure he wouldn't taint with any ink anytime soon. "I'm good, as good as ever. What about you?"
"I should be good, though I'll still have to wear all black things." Ryo slowly claim the seat which was initially designed for patients, but then he was the patient currently, in cover.
"Black?" Pi repeated and immediately realized the meaning beneath that sentence. "Ah, I'm sorry about your sister."
"It's alright. We've gotten over it, somehow..."
"Eh, looking all cool, huh?" Pi said in a teasing tone, taking a plastic cup of water, offering it to his best friend with the straw. "Drink?"
"Thanks." Ryo took it. "I am always cool, unlike you."
"Oh no, Nishikido. I'm way better than you." Yet another laugh escaped the male doctor's lips. "Anyway, what brings you here?"
"To send you my gratitude, for my sister. I heard you've consoled her once..."
"There's nothing to thank me about, Ryo." Pi gave a reassuring smile to Ryo. "I was surprised when I discovered that Miki was your sister. Your surnames were different. She was a nice girl, despite how depressed she had been."
"I know, she is." A strained sigh passed Ryo's lips, eyes lost its gaze. "And one thing, Tegoshi. I also heard that you accidentally knew him."
"Tegoshi - kun? What's wrong with him?" Pi asked curiously. "And, how many spied did you have actually?"
"A lot, Pi. A lot." Ryo replied, feeling so proud of it all of a sudden, though yet another sigh was released. "I don't know, I just feel responsible. The way he is currently..." he mumbled thoughtfully. "I beg you, do me a favor, will you?"

"I beg you, do me a favor, will you?"
Yamapi sat still inside his office though his working hour had passed 30 minutes ago, when his best friend who happened to be his last patient left. Putting a lot of thought over Ryo's request, Yamapi realized how big the burden weighing him suddenly turned into. This was not a small matter anymore.
Nevertheless, he agreed with it. A strong desire filled him when he heard the reason, unknowingly the word 'yes' escaped his throat. His best friend's smile and farewell, it all confused him now.
Suddenly, a single knock was heard, making him we through all the way to open the door. Eyes widened in surprise when the small figure was seen, without a word to say going inside his room, leaving Yamapi with his dropped jaw.
"Don't ask. I want to sleep." Tegoshi mumbled before he climbed the bed and fell onto it.
Yamapi could only shake his head at the sudden intrusion while watching the boy's back.
Helping him, eh?
