Ueda looked nervously at the clock hanging on the wall. It was already late as the clock says that the time is now a little before 12 but he still hoped that he would come as what he had promised. It was a cold night, yet Ueda was still awake, waiting and waiting. It was a promise that he would bring a small handmade cake for him on his birthday but his birthday is ending in less than an hour.
Ueda stared at his apartment's door then the clock and back to the door again and again. Sighing, he turned on the big LCD in his living room, hoping that it would distract his mind even for just a few minutes. He would come, and Ueda believed that.
The news which was announced distracted Ueda as his eyes grew wider and tears started forming from his eyes. There was an accident on the Shinkansen; we can’t be sure of what had happened but there is a high possibility that there are lots of victims because of this accident...

It was a big fight, indeed, worse than what they usually had. Both KAT-TUN and NEWS members tried to separate the two fighting boys but their efforts were in vain as Ueda and Ryo still managed to curse and shout even when each of them were on a completely different side of the room. None of the others knew what the reason of their fight was as they were already like this when they stepped into the dressing room. They managed to notice a supposedly big round cake, now lying on the floor. Just when they were trying to understand what might have happened; Ueda and Ryo were already in front of each other with deathly glares thrown at each other. They quickly pulled them back in case a big fight would happen which wouldn't do them any good as it somehow resulted in a crying Ueda at the end.
'What a crybaby.' Ryo retorted when he saw Ueda like that and he left the room, followed by the rest of NEWS. Kame approached and patted Ueda's shoulder, trying to calm him down. 'What did that Nishikido do this time, Ueda?' he asked.
Ueda didn't give any reply but he turned his head and stared at the cake. 'It was the Strawberry cake my grandmother made for my birthday right before she got a heart attack and got hospitalized. I wanted to share this with you guys, but..." he explained before he started sobbing again.
A few hours later Ueda was alone again in KAT-TUN dressing room. The rest of his band mates were out for their individual work and since he was so tired, he decided to take a nap in the dressing room.
Not long after, someone came into the room and Ueda thought that it must be one of his band mates so he stood up. His eyes widened when he saw Ryo at the door, with a strange looking box in his hand. Ryo seemed to be surprised to find Ueda awake but he decided to approach him. Ryo took a deep breath before opening the box and gave it to Ueda. 'I'm sorry for your cake earlier, and happy birthday.'
It turned out to be a simple handmade cake inside the box. Ryo must have baked this just a while ago since the cake was still warm. Tears started streaming from Ueda's eyes again which confused Ryo. 'T-Thank you..' he muttered.
There was silence between the two of them for a while until Ryo suddenly took a deep breath and opened his mouth, trying to utter something. 'You know what, I'll bake a cake for you on your birthday every year, that's a promise.'

Ueda kept dialing the number he had memorized perfectly. Nobody answered the call although he had called so many times. He was scared as he heard no news from him at all. He was supposed to be inside the shinkansen. Could it be..?
Suddenly Ueda heard a knock on his door. He was a bit unsure at first but as another knock was heard, he decided to stand up and approach the door after wiping his tears away. Ueda opened the door nervously and what he saw made tears come out again.
"I'm sorry, I'm late. It's still the 4th, right? Whoaa, why are you crying?" the one who knocked the door, Ryo, asked confusedly while holding a familiar yet strange looking box.
Ueda didn't give any reply but let Ryo in. Ryo, still confused, followed him in and put the box on the table and opened it. "I managed to finish this but I missed the train so I took a taxi instead. Thank God I arrived here on time." Ryo explained while preparing the cake. Ueda tilted his head a bit then he swept his tears away with a tissue. "Hmm, it's okay.. Thank you Ryo.." And gave the most beautiful smile that Ryo swore he ever saw.
Thank you for keeping your promise…
