Just a little something I wrote for the the "What if" discussion at peoplespalace .

What if Darken Rahl had succeeded in gaining the power of confession in "Conversion".

Creepy and very effective. I like how when Darken finally feels safe, Kahlan ceases to be important. I'm kind of surprised she said Richard was dead and didn't point out that all she had to do to get her Richard back was kill Darken.

Good story. :)

True! It would probably be smarter for Darken to confess Kahlan to avoid little complications like that. In another AU like "Hollow" he would confess her.

Thanks!

This is great! Darken is so well written - as are Kahlan and Richard. But Darken... I wish the writers of the show would have given him that much credit.

Thanks!!

I rattled this off pretty quickly and wasn't very sure about it, so I'm glad you liked it and thought Darken was in character. I do like the 'what-if" speculations.

It's a great idea; the 'for want of a nail' series of events. Here that Richard isn't there and so Kahlan doesn't go into Condar has this major change on the events.

I love 'who am I' before Confession and after it :D And the suggestion of a threesome. And the 'good to be the King' ending.

I'm a bit leery of the radahan idea, though he already controls the Mord'Sith without using his magic so he might not feel that vulnerable with a radahan one. But that's more for the discussion post :D

Thanks for reading!!

Good point about the rada'han - I didn't think that point through as well as I should have. While wearing it, Rahl would lack all magic, making him extremely vulnerable.

But now the last thing he wanted was to see her glorious hatred transformed into mindless worship.

I love this story! Darken deserves to have his happy endings once in a while. ^_^

Thank you! =))

Thanks for reading!

I was a little unhappy with it and almost didn't post it, but I guess I'm glad I did.

It's a fun AU. Would be an interesting longer fic too, I think.

I'm glad you did, too!

And in the light of recent discussions I'm SO glad that Darken didn't Confess Kahlan!

Would be an interesting longer fic too
Oh, yes! I would definitely enjoy it!
There are so much possibilities there! *dreaming*

I loved the whole cake thing! LOL

I hadn't even thought about Rahl not being able to be with his Mord Sith without killing them. Crazy way to have to worry about safe sex. ;)

I had similar thoughts about the Unbroken storyline, that if Darken had kept the power of Orden he would leave some people unaffected. I thought he would be bored with everyone around him being mindless simpering puppets. So I like the idea of him leaving Kahlan un-confessed. He could still use Richard to keep her in line I think. And it would probably be fun (maybe even like foreplay) for him if Kahlan was always trying to kill him.. lol

Thanks for reading!

I'm sure Darken warned poor Egremont not to breathe a word about what happened at Princess Violet's birthday party if he valued his life. What humiliation!

I agree with you about what Darken would have done in "Unbroken". Too bad we never got to see it. We'll have to have a "what if" discussion about that later on. A few other people have mentioned it.

Oh, the Unbroken AU... *sighs*
They were in such a hurry to get out of it... it upsets me so much!
"OMG! Darken has Orden! There will be an apocalypse! The Keeper's apocalypse won't hold a candle to it" - really upsetting.

Actually I got this idea of the Unbroken AU that keeps haunting me for a very long time now... Too bad I can't write in English.

It's really so good a prompt for a challenge...
