Violence is, and always has been, a part of our national culture. We did not invent it. We are not the only ones who use it. We could do better, but if you think we are the worst, or even near the worst, you are indeed naive.

The reason why I posted the cartoon, among the many I've seen from that period, is to express the same conclusion that you state: violence is and has always been part of our culture
