On Not Judging by Appearance

We are told not to judge a book by its cover, not to decide that people are like whatever simply because they look that way . . .  But we all do it.   Looking at people as I wander round Portsmouth (& when the wind's agin me I wander very slowly) I find myself thinking, "What does s/he think s/he looks like?"  ( ( Read more... )

god, appearances - on not judging by them

- How about the gramatical mistakes made by foreigners who've never been taught the proper use of those idioms?
And about the spellcheck, well I often use it, but admitedly not all the time.
- I wonder how you would think I am/look if I didn't have that icon, and didn't post pictures all the time !
- yes you do come as intimidating.
- yes I've heard about the were-rabbit :) I came across one in a pet shop one day that was bigger than my dog !

Foreigners are allowed to make such mistakes, provided they don't mind mine when I venture into another language!

How do I think you'd look if I didn't have the icon? Nice.

Oh dear. I come across as 6'. big & opinionated on screen too. *Cries*

I think the main were-rabbit reference is to the new Wallace & Gromit film "Curse of the Were-rabbit". But I think I know the breed you mean, there've been pix. But bigger than a growing German Shepherd. Crumbs!

Lol... I guess in the grammatical sense, I should really be over 40 instead of 19! :P

Hey, it's just nice to find a young person who can use the language properly. even if she doesn't always bother to 'shift' for herself! !)

I dunno, this modern emphasis on 'freedom of expression & doing things yr own way. . ." Whatever happened to actually COMMUNICATING? (BTW - this is a general rant, aimed specifically at no-one, except, perhaps, those who insist on ysing thr own splings & get v fd up & stropy wen this is comentd on!)

Over 45 and pedantic about spelling and grammar? That's me I'm afraid.
In fact, I am pedantic about EVERYTHING. Just ask Debs. I am also bordering on compulsive disorder syndrome. I have to check everything.....twice.
Poor Debs puts up with it but it drives her crazy.

Now where is the spell check button?

Cheers,
Hills
