Staying Dry?

For comparison with any cold weather you may be experiencing, Dear Reader, you may or may not know that Ben Saunders and Tarka l'Herpiniere are retracing Scott's expedition to the South Pole.  They are travelling unsupported, pulling all their food and kit on sleds.  They achieved the Pole and are now on the return trip, heading for the Beardmore ( Read more... )

We too benefit from ocean heat sinks, aka the Atlantic ocean and the North Sea. Mostly we get to 'benefit' from rain blown in from the sou'west - as in the past six weeks. Fortunately we're due a few days dry weather so some of it might get a chance to drain away (where?).

Occasionally we get the tail ends of weather systems from the eastern seaboard of north america. Here's hoping we don't get the tail end of the polar vortex. As you know, we don't do snow at all well!
