Ghost Town

Growing backwards because they're drowning our screams
They're keeping us locked in their cages
So I lie my way through the day
And I lie my way into your heart

You weren't mistaken when you kept your distance
Walking around with a cross and a sing along song
You keep their thoughts carved into your chest
But do you believe in anything at all?

For a moment, I saw a light inside your eyes
Your soul fights against the will to survive
So you rest it inside a blanket for you'll sell it
For a smile, for a laugh and a pink little lie

And I've got nothing to cry for, my tears are dry
You see, my heart knows better than to fight
Because my wounds are open but I still can hide
Do I, do I believe in anything at all?

Son, it'll always be easier to walk along with the crowd
Keep your head down and never speak up
I've bought you a ticket to a ghost life in a ghost town
You'll run with a torch burning every truth around
Every urge to fight, you'll bury it in the mud
Now it's your turn to become what everyone else has become
