That night Santana slept over at Rachel's house, the next morning Brittany didn't show up to school or Glee club afterwards, and both Rachel and Quinn looked at her with pity all day; Santana Lopez was not one to like being pitied, she had too much pride for that. After glee was over Santana went home and straight into her room, closing the door and laying in her bed staring up at the ceiling. Santana wanted to go see Brittany, but she didn't know what to say to the blonde, she had seen the look on Brittany's face the night before, and knowing she caused it made Santana hurt more than anything else. She felt a lump rising in her throat, but swallowed hard, pretty soon however, tears were once again falling from her eyes.
Her crying was interrupted minutes later by a knock at her door, followed by a voice from the other side asking to come in. Santana sat up slightly, feebly adjusting her appearance so she didn't look so distraught before granting the other person access. Moments later, her father comes through, and sits on his daughter's bed.
"Hey Mija, I saw your car in the driveway, you're home kind of early, everything okay?" Mr. Lopez strokes the top of his daughter's head lovingly.
"Yeah papi, I'm fine, glee just got out a little earlier than usual." Santana lied.
"And now you're crying in your room because of it." Her father stated, letting Santana know that he was aware she wasn't telling him the truth
"I can see the dried tears staining your cheeks Santana." Her father gave as an explanation.
"It's nothing papi, just teenage girl stuff." Santana tried to ensure her father, who wasn't letting up.
"It's Brittany right?"
Santana's eyes grew wide, her father continued, " she's the only person I've ever seen you get upset over."
Santana said nothing, while fresh tears fell silently; her father just engulfs the Latina in a hug waiting for her tears to subside and tells her sweet affirmations of 'everything's going to be alright.'
"It just hurts so bad daddy. I don't know how to make it okay."
Even though he didn't know what his daughter was referring to, he still offered his her words of wisdom.
"You're a Lopez mija, we always find a way to get what we need done."
Santana still says nothing, but she seems to stop crying after being held for a little while longer. Mr. Lopez squeezes Santana one last time, and places a kiss on the top of her head before getting up declaring he was going to start making dinner for the two of them. Before reaching the threshold he hears life changing moment number 6 for Santana Lopez, "I'm in love with her daddy."
The Latino man freezes in his place.
"You're gay?" He says evenly, not yelling or turning around to face his daughter.
"I don't know, I just… I love her.
After staying silent for a few moments he hears his daughter whisper, "please don't hate me daddy."
At that Mr. Lopez couldn't help turning around to see the scared, vulnerable, broken expression that adorned his daughter's features, and in that moment he was brought back to a 7 year old Santana after he had told her of his wife's and her mother's passing, and it broke his heart. He returned to the spot on Santana's bed he had left only moments ago, and resumed the position of wrapping his arms around the crying Latina, who held onto him tightly; only this time, he too had tears streaming down his face.
"Shh I don't hate you Santana", he pulls her face up so they're eyes are meeting, " I could never hate you, you're my daughter, nothing changes that, I love you okay."
He says firmly. Santana, with tears streaming down her face still says nothing.
"Tell me you understand that Santana." His voice takes on a slightly authoritative tone.
"I understand papi." Santana confirms. Mr. Lopez lets go of his grip on her face, and both father and daughter take a couple of minutes to pull both of themselves together, after which Mr. Lopez joins his daughter's hand with his own in her lap.
" I don't understand it all, you being in love with another woman so you're going to have to help me out with that, but I didn't understand the TiVo until you explained it to me, and now I love it more than ever." Her father attempts a joke to lighten the mood, and it works because a smile breaks free from Santana's lips, the first real smile Santana has had in three months.
"So let me just order some Chinese, and then you can tell me exactly what the situation is with you and Brittany." The older Lopez doesn't wait for Santana's reply before pulling out his cell phone.
The rest of the day (and night) in the Lopez house was spent with the two eating Chinese food, and Santana telling her father everything that has happened starting from when she and Brittany first kissed, the Latina only leaving out the parts involving her having sex. Nobody besides Brittany never noticed the extent of the bond Santana shared with her father, and venting to him that night made her feel like a huge weight was lifted off of her shoulders. By the time Santana had settled in for bed it was almost midnight, and when she checked her phone before going to bed she saw that she had 9 missed calls and 4 text messages, none of them from Brittany.

The next day at school, Santana still had no idea what she was going to say to Brittany when she saw her, she quickly found out that she didn't have to worry much, because for the second day in a row she didn't show up. Rachel and Quinn kept her company, and didn't completely fail at keeping the blonde in semi- good spirits.
After coming home from cheerios practice that evening and showering Santana and her father were in the middle of joking around while cooking dinner when the doorbell rang. Mr. Lopez left to answer the door while Santana continued to look after the food that was cooking in the pan. When her father returned a minute later he wasn't alone, behind him was Brittany. The Latino man cleared his throat to get his daughter's attention. When she turned and saw the blonde, "Britt." Quickly escaped her lips, and nothing else.
"Hi, Santana." The blonde offered, but it didn't have the same perkiness in it that it usually did, it was solemn and serious.
A thick silence fell on the kitchen, and Mr. Lopez took the chance to look at the both of them, the way his daughter looked at Brittany, and the way Brittany looked at his little girl in return. He instantly knew that the two had strong feelings for each other, and while he didn't know much about homosexual relationships he knew that what the two teenagers had between them was strong, and that he would try. The emotions flowing through the girls were so strong they were almost palpable.
The man walked over to his daughter, "Santana why don't you and Brittany go upstairs so you two can talk, I'll take care of things down here. " Mr. Lopez gave his daughter a nudge in Brittany's direction, and wordlessly the two girls went up to Santana's room.
After Brittany closed the door to Santana's room behind herself, the two girls were once again immersed in silence. Santana avoided eye contact with Brittany, looking everywhere but at the blonde.
"This is the longest we've ever gone without any contact with each other."
Brittany said out of nowhere, it was then that Santana allowed herself to take in the blonde's appearance; she was wearing read lounge pants, the kind she would dance in if she weren't wearing shorts, and a black V-neck, her hair was loose and down over her shoulders. It amazed Santana at how beautiful the ex cheerio could look without even trying.
"I know, I'm sorry… I'm didn't mean for you to get hurt or whatever." Santana offered looking into blue eyes for the first time in what seemed like forever.
" I broke up with Mandy." Brittany stated simply. "It wasn't fair to her. She deserves someone who can love her."
"And you don't? You're always so happy when you're around her or talk about her" Santana said.
"I'm in love with you." Brittany kept her tone the same. Santana's knees went weak at the words, she had to sit on her bed, she was feeling so many things at once, it was overwhelming.
"Do you still love me? Everything you said yesterday at Rachel's, you still mean it right?" Brittany asked, the hopefulness apparent in her voice.
"Yeah, B it is, but it isn't that…"
"Simple," Brittany finished her best friend's sentence. "Yes it is. I love you, you love me, it's that simple, and I was so angry at you yesterday because you made it seem like it wasn't."
Santana didn't know what to say, so Brittany continued.
"You want me to be happy? Santana you've made me happy ever since I met you, and the only time I did get sad because of you was when I thought about how you just wanted me for sex, but now I know you don't, you love me. So just get over your Santana hang ups and be my girlfriend already." Brittany said advancing closer to Santana.
I've wanted to be with you for so long, nothing will ever make me happier, even if we have to sneak around for a while, I'm not saying forever but if you don't think you can…"
"No Britt!" Santana cut Brittany off this time, her voice coming out louder than she expected it to. Making sure her voice was softer, she continued, "I told my dad….everything."
Brittany's eyes went wide, and then her eyebrows scrunched up in confusion.
"So what does that mean?"
It was Santana's turn to advance closer to Brittany, " I would never ask you to go back into the closet Britt, that was my main thing, I know how it makes you feel now, like you're something to be ashamed of, like you don't deserve a real life, and real happiness."
Santana takes both of Brittany's hands, " I told my dad and he still loves me, frankly anybody else can go fuck themselves, and it's so damn hard to pretend I don't want to be with you. I'll take on the world for you Brittany. So this," Santana gestures at both of their hands intertwines, "means that I'm ready to make up for all the time I wasted not being with you the way I should be.
Santana leans in and kisses Brittany, both girls feel an electric force travel through their body. The kiss is gentle and only lasts a few seconds; Brittany pulls back to see Santana. Both girls are grinning like crazy, Brittany licks her lips, and subconsciously Santana licks her own as well, "It's been almost four years and you still wear the same flavored chap stick?" Brittany jokes.
Santana rolls her eyes playfully, and their lips meet for the second time in a minute span. The kiss is still as gentle as before, neither of them rushing. Brittany's lips open, allowing Santana to access her mouth, quickly exploring and tasting Brittany for the first time in years.
They stand there kissing for a couple of more minutes before the blonde pulls away, and their foreheads meet while they catch their breath.
"Do you want to stay for dinner?" Santana asks.
"Does your dad still like me, he doesn't think I'm like that lesbian that corrupted his daughter?"
The Latina gives her girlfriend another quick peck on the lips, "you kinda are, B."
They both smile, "Oh yeah." Brittany says and the two head down stairs hand in hand, Santana can't wait to show off her new girlfriend.
