All righty then, I can actually provide context for why xylophones remind you of wine glasses (at first I was thinking, okay, Britta, step away from the pipe, lol) but it's got to be Johnny Carson's fault. I remember those guys he'd have on every once in a while who played the wine glasses and they do sound like xylophones ... or xylophones sound like wine glasses ... or something.
You know what? 25 years or so ago, I actually had one of those 'Enterprise' bongs. I sure wish I'd kept it - not to use so much as to sell on eBay. I bet it would be worth a fortune now.
Mine also has tinfoil, and scotch tape. Even has a filter made of kleenex.
Perhaps I should go check on it right now and see if it will last through another hot and humid day... then I think I'll listen to some wineglasses and go to bed.
