Boring taxes question

Does anyone know of any free e-filing places that will accept the fact that not everyone's spouse has or needs a SSN and will allow you to input a N/A in that area ( Read more... )

We live in the UK, sorry if I didn't make that clear earlier.

It is a bit frustrating if they have changed the rules and no longer accept N/A on the spouses SSN, which is what I did on my first return after I was married. Last year I didn't file a return as I was unemployed all year and this year I only worked during the summer between school terms and am only filing as a formality. I didn't earn enough to be taxed by the UK, let alone the US!

OK, I thought you were living in the US. It sucks, but you might have to just go ahead and mail your return. :-\

what i would do is download taxact (its free! from taxact.com) and then print the return out when youre finished (with 000-00-0000) to mail in. i would attach a typed letter to the front page with your situation explained and your phone number if theres a problem.
