I think the usual thing for movie theatres is to sell pop, popcorn, and sweets (like licorice, Snowcaps, Skittles, Goobers, etc).

Newer theatres are beginning to incorporate coffee and ice cream bars, like the Loews by my house. This one also serves nachos and chicken tenders in the regular concession stand, and upstairs, there's a full restaurant and bar. You can take your beer into the movie with you if you buy upgraded tickets (leather recliners!), and you can be served in box seats for a little more.

I write it as 'doughnut'. I'm pretty sure 'donut' took over with the popularity of Dunkin Donuts.

I've never spelled it any other way. I hate "donut".

I've never seen ice cream in a movie theater here, but they do sell chocolate candy (Goobers, Raisinets, Sno-Caps, etc.).

Of course, the biggest American blasphemy is that ridiculous savoury popcorn. I very rarely indulge in anything vaguely unhealthy but on my first visit to a US cinema decided to treat myself to some sweet toffee popcorn - OR SO I THOUGHT. 'Do you want butter on that?' 'Yeh, j... ERRR SAY WHAT?' 'Butter? You want butter on that?' 'BUTTER? BUTTER?! ARE YOU OFF YOUR CAKE?'

I did give it a try but it just wasn't happening. Popcorn without the high-tech fake toffee glaze is like eating greasy cardboard. America 1, me 0.
