Could someone recommend a good website for UK tv show premieres? The ones I find through google, possibly due to me being in the US, are mostly about when US shows are premiering.

We don't really do that here. Things show for the first time, but they are hardly ever called "premieres". They just start, on their channel, and there are press releases and TV listings, and the Radio Times (and their website, and other sites like Digital Spy) will write about them. Nobody publishes lists of start dates publicly, because there's no need for anyone outside of the industry to have them.

The closest you'll get is the On Air This Week section of Broadcast (a TV industry publication, most of its content is subscriber-only) and that's not exhaustive. Look at the bottom right of the Greenlight page on broadcastnow dot co dot uk.

I think the different networks here change their programming every 9 episodes or so. There are also specials over Easter and at Christmas (Dr Who in particular but movies and things too) so you can look for those easily enough. Mostly you have to know what you are looking for and haunt the various sites; Wikki, IMDB and the network pages for the program are the most useful to me though some of the news sites and blogs help too.

PS Davinici's Demons just ended here and I think The Borgias is about to start? I don't watch either but those are the highly rated shows here. Unfortunately you get about 9 weeks and then nothing for a year for most programs.

Also, some things are deliberately just done in 6 episodes, (like Broadchurch), which doesn't really happen in the US - longer than a mini-series but not repeated.

Yes, I think the White Queen starting tomorrow on BBC1 will be one of those. I don't think they could do that in less than 4 or 6 episodes and then I guess maybe they will do the other queens over the next few years.

The White Queen is a 10 part dramatization of a set of novels by Phillipa Gregory following the women involved in the Wars of the Roses. This on the BBC media site (http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2012/white-queen.html) - but even that doesn't give an airdate beyond '2013'.

There isn't one. Sometimes the production companies themselves don't know when something will be shown on UK TV. You might keep an eye on the BBC media centre: http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/ which puts out press releases for new programmes (though not always air dates).

Or the various independent producers - Kudos for example.

British TV used to have a 13-week cycle, with programmes starting just after Christmas, then after Easter, then during he Summer - with the US 26-week seasons slotted in over a half-year. But with new short seasons and one off dramas that's no longer the case.

Not what you're looking for exactly, but the Radio Times website www.radiotimes.com will tell you what's coming up.

That's what I was going to suggest, too.
