quilting thread

I love to quilt, unfortunately I didn't bring enough hand quilting thread with me to Newcastle, England to complete a project. I haven't noticed any craft stores in the city and am wondering if anyone knows of a good place to find thread? Do regular department stores like Marks and Spencer carry it? It seems the British are not big on quilting...at

by the way, I did finally find thread, expensive but will do till I can stock up when I visit home over Christmas.
