A few weeks back, I responded to an email on MySpace from my friend Vernon, who is in The Julia Dream, an Atlanta band. I had just discovered (erroneously, as it turns out) that I had a schedule conflict and might not be able to attend the show here in Savannah tonight. They are playing at The Guitar Bar, by the way.

I'm increasingly convinced that every word one speaks becomes an intention to the universe, which is why you have to be very careful what you say because it may well come back to you.
Check out The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn. It's public domain now, so you can read it online here or as a text file here. (It's not a long book, even printed, so it won't take long to load.)
It was written in the 1920s, but it dovetails into a lot of current notions that are circulating, from "What the Bleep..." onwards.
