2. Witty and snarky dialogue are staples of the characters' personas.

3. The setting is high school or twentysomethings in a new town.

1. It takes place in space.

2. If not in space, then in Camden County.

3. Or possibly a hospital.

4. Anywhere, really.

5. Tiny technical details, but only when cool.

6. Callbacks on callbacks.

7. Long portions without dialog

8. Happy endings.

9. Survival situations (a reflection of a boy scout camping trips, and always preparing for the worst).
