a quick "Drive-by" post [and re-post for a friend]:

"Looking for input:

I'm buying a CPAP machine, and I need experiences/testimonials of different ones. Currently looking at the F&P Icon Premo, the REMstar Pro, the ResMed S9 Elite and the Devilbiss IntelliPAP.

Anyone got any stories or info? Looking for comparitives or reviews online is like ( Read more... )

I have only ever used the Resmed in the ten years of cpap use.

I have never had a problem with mine...but I will be looking for another brand of machine next time only due to the fact that the version of machine before mine were recalled for starting fires ( the loose power cord that would fall out and spark) um yeah. bit scary but my version is ok.

I have a feeling this could be a mutual friend actually. x x x

I work with someone who uses a F&P. Read: I therefore well accustomed to the use of a F&P. We've had no major problems with it the nearly 6 months I've been there. It recently needed a new water tank but I get the impression that water tank had been trucking for a while. We don't use distilled water, either. Just water that has been boiled and has cooled down. That could well have shortened the life of the water tank. So on the whole I think it's quite good.

I remember reading in my health policy that CPAP machines are covered. If this person has an existining policy it could well be under theirs, definitely worth a check.
