calorie counter watch?

Hello lovely brisneylanders!

I'm after a cheap watch that tells me how many calories I burn in a day. By cheap I mean I don't really want to be spending more than $20 (times are tough).

And before anyone suggest it, I've tried ebay and a few other online shops and come up with nada.

Is this something I could easily find in a Big W or Amart All Sports?

Or maybe ( Read more... )

wanted to buy, health, where can i find _____ ?

I've never seen calorie counters like you describe, but you could always get a really cheap pedometer (I think I even saw them in coles, and they're definitely in Kmart) that tells you how many steps you've taken (and then you can work out from that how many calories you've burnt from the number of steps).

Or, you could buy a heart rate monitor - that might tell you equivalent calories but most of them mean you also have to wear a chest strap- again, I'd try Kmart and Big W first - waaayyy cheaper than sports shops if you only want the basics.

Interestingly, both my phone and my ipod nano have pedometers on them, too now!

I've owned 2 pedometers, and both of them have either had a calorie or a kilojoule counter on them as well, so pedometers are pretty awesome things (you need to set up how long your step is and it works it all out for you)

a heart rate monitor is the best way to tell how many cals you've burned. You could pick up an on sale one for Amart all sports for around $100 - 120.

They do have cheaper versions in kmart for around 60 but arnt quite as accurate. And beware you want one that fits around your chest not just one you "place your finger on".

Alternatively , use a free thing like calorieking.com.au. It will tell you from your profile how many net calories you need during the day that makes your body go and you can keep track of this by putting the calories that you eat in (effectively charting calories in/out). Then you can enter any exercise on top of that into the diary and it will also calculate that on top.

I have recommended this to people and they complain that they don't have time to sit down and put everything in but it really doesn't take too long once you set up your profile and some "set meals" you often have. Plus it helps track other things such as fats and salts etc. All for free!

Sorry, doll. What you think you need isn't available yet for twenty bucks.
