$30 Brazillian in Hawthorne - ZOMG

Oct 09, 2009 11:49

Hello lovely ladies of Brisneyland - gents you might want to skip this post. ;] I wish to let you know of an amazing little place that just opened up on Hawthorne Road called, "Full Kandi".

I was immediately drawn to them when I saw a placard out the front of their beauty clinic stating that they gave $30 Brazillian Waxes. I honestly almost ( Read more... )

Thanks for the recommendation re:pricing, but I don't think I'll go there after checking out their website. Under services:

It’s society that tells us that women have to be hair free, but it’s people like you and me that have to fork out at the salon. That’s why we want to keep the price down. Like women’s hygiene products it’s not something we want to buy, it’s something that we have to buy.

O rly? Because I'm pretty sure that while I have to purchase something to stop bleeding everywhere, I'm pretty sure that it's not a neccessity for me to adhere to societies beauty standards.

Sorry for post hijack - it just jumped out at me and really got my goat!

No offence taken re: the high-jack. I don't really see what's wrong with what she's written, though? Her business is beauty therapies and waxing etc, and she's writing this blurb to potential customers so they are probably going to feel obligated to get whatever it is they get done, done. If that makes sense. :P
I know I feel weird if I don't get a Brazillian every month or so - I start to feel like a bushy chewbacca!

Also, she's just gone into business and they're written all of this up themselves. I wouldn't worry too much, they're nice ladies who offer great [cheap!] services. :]

Sorry babe, as A Hairy Bitch[tm], I guess I readily take offence when companies refer to hair-removal as a necessity... and comparing it to tampons/pads etc didn't sit right with me. There's a bit of a difference, in my mind! I will gladly go without shaving/waxing/depilating for months and months, but I'm pretty sure there'd be trouble if I ignored my mentrual cycle like I ignore my leg hair ;o)

No need to apologise! If we all had the same views the world would be a pretty boring place.

I can definitely see where you're coming from; personally it doesn't worry me. So long as I get my cheap waxing I don't much care what they write! ;] :P

I think what they're calling "Turkish Hand Waxing" is otherwise known as Sugar Wax and is the way that most Middle Eastern women wax their legs. There are plenty of recipes to make the sugar wax at home around on the net. I haven't done it myself but I have heard from a lot of people that it is actually less painful.

Hi, my name is Andi and I’m one of the managing director's of Fullkandi. Thank you so much for your feedback. Just to let you know, we’ve made some changes to our website and you’re right. We apologise for any offence that we’ve caused. It’s our goal to be the number one business in Australia in terms of hair removal, and we need feedback from people like yourself to achieve this. We don’t profess to know everything by any means, however with your help, we can hopefully learn enough to make an unpleasant chore, a pleasant experience. And that’s what we’re after. If you have any more feedback, please contact me personally on 0739020973.

Excellent to see that you've taken the feedback into consideration Andi. I personally didn't take any offence to what was written, but no doubt you don't want to cause any ill-feeling with potential customers.

I'm still very satisfied with my treatment - I'm even noticing the hair is taking longer to grow back!!

LOL, when I read comments like those above, I'm reminded of how non-PC I am/ easily I will abandon all notions of idealistic feminism in order to groom myself for less money. I'm like, "...Who the hell cares if they imply women shouldn't be hairy, IT'S A 30 BUCK BRAZILLIAN!!!?", haha. It's the student way, I guess - talk big, spend little. XD

Ahem. Anyway, I just wanted to say - thanks so much for this post! I realise you made it a while back (I'm roaming the tags for cheap prettifying things), but I'm really excited to make an appointment here, now. I've been fascinated by Turkish Sugar Waxing since I saw the movie Caramel - my Turkish roommate talks about it all the time, too. LOL, apparently the wax itself is so delicious to eat that, in Turkey, the owner of the Salon spits into the mixture so the beauticians don't chow down on it between treatments. That's my kind of wax!
