Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Helen and John break up before he went on his walkabout?
He also has a relationship with his father, despite being in a wheelchair. So how did he get paralyzed? I doubt he'd still invite his father to his wedding if he'd pushed him out the window.
llnaughty said the producers said to note the differences in the timelines. They aren't all things that would have been changed directly by the plane making it to LA safely, at least not obviously. Remember Shannon wasn't on the plane and Charlie tried to kill himself on the plane, which I don't think happened originally. (Though was that before or after the turbulence, which originally crashed the plane? If after, it's not unexplained.) Also, Hurley has good luck, even before the trip to Oz. And Kate did something different than killing her step-father.
I think the blonde kid is child!Jacob, but your theory is intriguing.
Oh, I totally forgot to mention the whole "wtf, Locke's DAD?!" thing, but that crossed my mind as I was watching the episode.
And I forgot about how Shannon wasn't on the plane.
With regards to Charlie, I don't THINK he was trying to kill himself in this new reality thing. I THINK he decided to try to swallow his drugs instead of flushing them and his subsequent anger at being saved by Jack is due to the fact that he's now going to be arrested, sent to jail, forced to detox... at least that's what I imagine, anyways.
Wait, how do we know Kate did something different? Claire asked her why the cops were after her and all Kate said was "would you believe me if I told you I was innocent?"
Could be child!Jacob, definitely, but toddler!Aaron was quite blonde and I'm sure that the whole "must not be raised by someone else" thing will come into play at some point, since he was raised by Kate and now his grandmother. Maybe he'll be the new Jacob? Or something? I don't even know.

The show breaks my brain quite well.
