The Disaster Trip

Aug 06, 2008 01:38

It was almost immediately after our school group split when things started to go wrong for me and my group of friends. But before I go into that, let me add some notes about conflicts that came up before I even left Well. First off, there was the issue of planning the trip. My friends aren't exactly good planners, which bugged the crap out of me. I ( Read more... )

Rinny, those people weren't your friends, they were selfish assholes. Traveling brings out the worst in some people, and sadly you saw it. I don't think it was you at all, but they saw you as someone to take out frustration on, and it sucks being the scape goat (as one of my friends said, when she gets upset she cries; I then realized that when I get upset I make other people cry). Think of it this way, you did lose those pictures, but you saw those monuments and museums with your own eyes, and I never will get to. You can always go back another time and take more! (I think England, Ireland, and Paris are planning to be there for awhile). You can always take a close friend with you or travel alone, since you're an old pro now. Take the best away from your trip there... it sounds like the online friends you saw were really awesome, and they know you better than those idiots you went with (and you have more in common). Don't take away the worst, try and make the best of your trip- remember what you saw! I can't even imagine!!!

Yay for not going to McDonalds! \o/

Honestly though, the stuff you wrote doesn't sound like fun, even the idea doesn't. Running through museums, flying here and there, sitting in busses, seeing monuments, SHOPPING... no. Heck, no. Seeing people - that's the thing!

Well, I do enjoy seeing museums and monuments. I knew ahead of time I'd have to rush through the Louvre...I heard it takes a week to see it throughly. But I still loved it. And I don't even mind shopping, as long is it's only a small amount. Though really, too many things were crammed into that week...it should've been limited to one or two cities. I should've just gone alone (too bad I didn't have the courage yet) and if I had, I would've gone to just Dublin and Paris. A lot of other students did that and it worked great for them ( ... )

That is of course what I don't enjoy, just don't see the point in travelling - not that I'm saying others shouldn't travel if they do see the point (only better for them).

None too close friends in those you travelled with?
