Plans for Spring 2008

Okay, so I am looking at the general information for my semester in the Netherlands and everything seems so complicated. The trip may be eight months away, but I need to start figuring things out now so I'm not confused too late. While I am very excited to go, I'm also rather nervous. Other than Canada, I've never lived in a foreign country, and ( Read more... )

The hosteling international card is a very good idea, it is a fairly cheap card (sometimes you get it for free) and as it is the biggest chain of Hostels in the world it is bound to be the one you use the most. . . unless you actually try to avoid it.

I found that Lonely Planet's travel guides where quite good and when I look in the one for Denmark it looks like a quite good purches as well. . .they are also made for people on a budget.

I stayed in quite a few hostels when Interrailing. They are usually good value. However there are also independent hostels which is why I particularly like Lets Go (though I like Lonely Planet and Rough Guides too but they aren't updated so often) since they have up to date information on temporary hostels (eg student residence in vacations). Of course the internet helps with this kind of thing but a good guide points you in the right direction. Lonely planet is better on sights and attractions maybe.

Anyway the 2007 Let's Go Europe is under $11 at Amazon ... worth every penny even I'd say even if you also get a guide with Pics :D

Well, in south america the Hostel International hostels are independent as well and could be very different in quality. Mostly they where alright and often they where the one you wanted to be in because that is where everybody else was staying and then it would be nice to get the discount.

I have never seen these "Lets go" that you speak of, but I would always pick Lonely Planet over Rough Guide.

I just took a look at the Let's Go Europe at Amazon, and indeed it looks like a good buy.

I will definitely consider ordering it. :)

"I found the most direct route to Germany and found out it is only about 5.5km away, which is about an 8 minute drive past the border (okay, Rikae...please don't hate me... ;) )."

Not at all. ;)

Actually, I may be going to Germany myself in January. Probably early January, though...
