Still sick... and now with vertigo

Mar 06, 2011 07:41

Well, I waited a week without taking the antibiotics.  Aside from a short low grade fever that went away, and the fact that I haven't been hit by any other cases of completely not being able to breath when not moving like that one day, there hasn't been any improvement.  The coughing and my lungs have gotten worse, (excluding that one day.)   ( Read more... )

*hugs* I hope you'll feel better soon.

Vertigo can be accompanying an ear infection, and low BP dehydration. Both can be signs that the flu "expanded" to new teritory.

Whatever it is, if it continues, it might be an indication to visit a doctor again.

Yeah, my ears feel completely fine, but that's the first thing that comes to mind with vertigo. I figure I'll take the meds for a few days and if nothing, then may go back to the doctor. I wish doctors here were better, though.

(Incidentally, doctors trained here in Afghanistan have never even been in a lab-even a biology lab-let alone looked at cadavers or spent any time on real humans before they start practicing. They just study textbooks.)

Anyhow, thanks hugely for the comments and insights. Definitely appreciated.

Advice noted on the home remedy stuff. I'll start doing that. Yippee.. fun-fun.

Not too worried about falling over from the vertigo. Well, okay, there have been a number of times when I have come close to falling over (and a couple times when I have) but the up side is that having lived with head rushes for ~20 yrs, I'm already in the habit of being on guard against such things and sitting down fast.

I'll second the saltwater cure--works better than soju even. ;)

I'd say rule out low blood pressure, but low BP would only explain hypostatic tension, like you described.

I am not an expert, but the vertigo may be a sign of a bad ear infection.

In a country where simple illnesses can quickly lead to complications or weaken your immune system to the point something more serious can easily take advantage of it, wouldn't it be wise to see physicians and/or take meds at the earliest possible convenience when sickness rears its ugly head? ;-)

Color me selfish. I'd like you to stick around so I can keep reading your posts. *smiles*

Smile. Thanks. And yeah, I didn't want to push it too far. But I also really don't like taking antibiotics unless necessary.... especially living here where diseases can go bad fast. I'd much rather have the antibiotics remain working effectively.
