Remember* in my last post how I was feeling all gloomy about how I didn't do any writing and it feels as if I'm just pretending, etc, etc?

I HAVE MOTIVATION! And I realised what the problem was: I was trying to write someone else's story. Or, more accurately, I was trying to write my story in someone else's voice. And I hated that voice

I enjoy Jodi Picoult's books often, but one thing that does drive me crazy is how EVERYONE is always seeing this HUGE deeper meaning in EVERYTHING. Argh! Like someone drops a cup and this is a giant stinking metaphor for their entire life. After five or six books where this happens at least five or six times in each I'm left going CAN'T SOMEONE DROPPING A CUP JUST BE THEM BEING A BUTTER FINGERS?!
