Oh, that's just so sad, and awesome, and well written, and poignant, and so many other words that I just can't grasp.

Well done, that was painful, but fits into canon so well, and you capture the boys perfectly.

It's the way of their life, isn't it? They figure it out, they get away from it, and they think they've put it behind them, but you just know that whatever it is is going to come smack them right in the face again sooner or later.

Oooh, very nice, really liked the way you used Mephistopheles, he has an evil purpose and intent far more sinister than the crowing demons show usually deals with and gave this story a fitting depth of horror. The demon feeding on the despair from them both while fooling Dean into taking his own life and then also feeling a little of Sam's power worked out very well. Especially liked the last section, something about a fiercely protective Sam just pushes all my buttons.

I've got a huge soft spot for super!protective!Sam myself. I'm thinking that might be starting to get a little obvious though. :)
