Could someone explain exactly how common it is to get a blood infection from a wasp sting? Because I've never heard of it before ( Read more... )

Oh, dear, poor little man! I guess if the wasp had stuck it's butt in something dirty before stinging him, it's possible it managed to inject something icky. Also, all people have certain bacteria in their system and on their skin that can be triggered off by random events. I've not heard of it happening from wasp stings, but rose thorn pricks, yes.

Kids, they're such a joy, huh? We almost had to call the fire brigade two weeks ago to cut my 20-month old son's foot free from between the magazine rack slats of my parents' solid wood coffee table. Thankfully the can of spray canola oil did the trick (just as we were dialling 111). *facepalm*

Ouch! I just talked to a kid who was sick last week for a library program, and he told me he had a blood infection from a tick bite. He was out of school for over a week.
