I've been back there for two weeks. Two weeks. For the most part, I've had an enormous amount of fun.

I've made four posts in the Boycott Universe thread, expressing my opinion on this upcoming gratuitous crapfest series and my intent not to watch it.

Oh yeah. It's amazing. If I didn't know better, I'd swear it was some random PTB pissed that I'm slagging off on his new baby.

But that would be rather paranoid and OTT of me. :)

The thing that really gets me is... the original post was a very strongly worded "call to arms" for all the pissed off SGA fans to band together and boycott Universe.

Well, I've never even liked Atlantis, so I'm not banding together to "boycott" anything. I'm just not going to watch it. I think it's being designed for an age group so far below my own that I wouldn't like it anyway and I think they've made it crystal clear that I'm no longer a "good enough" viewer for them.

Apparently, I think that because I can't read. Because apparently the words "younger audience" and "for a new generation" don't mean that they're going after a new younger generation of viewers.

The argument being used against me?

Paraphrase: "The average age of a Stargate viewer is 47 or something. They don't have to try hard to get younger than that."

I refuse to debate things like my opinion on public forums. There simply isn't a point, and people get downright nasty over the dumbest things. I guess it must be nice to have nothing else in the world to get that pissed about, but still.
I've seen it all over, not just GateWorld. Even on news websites where people post comments, it's like they figure since it's on the internet, there aren't any REAL people there getting their feelings hurt, or worse, they honestly don't care.

Yeah, I used to go over there long ago...I quit mostly because of their apparent inability to keep spoiler-y things behind cuts.

But yeah, I don't miss the ignorance of some of the posters over there.

I'm not sure this will help you feel any better, but I've since moved on to a few other fandoms and found that the most passionate fandoms are all exactly the same! Or worse.

It sucks, though, when you want to have a rational conversation, and everyone takes up that "with us or against us" mentality. :-(
