Come on, men can't be FRIENDS. If they touched or even thought about touching, it's slash unless all they did was hit each other in the pursuit of a flying ball of some sort. Those are the rules. *giggles*
You know what's sad? Especially when it comes to vids, you are exactly right. It actually entertains me quite a lot that I keep winning slash awards with gen vids.
But yeah, you're right. If they're not snarking at fighting, they're shagging. Like there's no in-between.
...And even THAT is always being labeled a "lover's quarrel"... *rolls eyes*
I write slash... but I prefer gen by FAR. Pretending that men can't love one another without being "in love", or can't be good friends who are physically comfortable with one another WITHOUT shagging one another is just perpetuating a macho-male misconception (and one which many men, sadly, don't need any help continuing to believe, even if they're related to one another).
You actually have no idea how much better that makes me feel, because I was seriously beginning to think I'm just the most in denial person on the planet. I mean, my Jack and Daniel love each other very, very much... just not in that particular way.
So Grac won for Benedictus then? Very cool! I've heard from my sister that it's one of her best ever.
Often people use "slash" to refer to an exploration of a relationship between two men or women, regardless of the nature of that relationship. Just different definitions, I guess. But I see that the comment above me says they moved it to gen.
