So, have you ever had one of those years...

One of those years where you start out good and strong, and you're writing, and you're enjoying school, and you're finally getting that degree you've been after since you were 18, and you've finally got a place to live, and you've finally got two reliable vehicles, and your husband is finally back to work, and your kids are healthy, and you get ( Read more... )

Maybe it's just a glitch? Perhaps your Muse is merely taking a sabbatical and will be back in full force once rested up. *hopes*

I really do hope so. I've got two Dark Angel stories half-written, two SPN stories half-written and two more outlined, and my first NCIS long-fic about 2/3 of the way done.

If I can't finish them, I'll lose my damn mind. D:

This totally resonates for me. I've noticed that the harder my life is, the more I'm struggling with, the easier it is to write and the more 'material' I feel like I have. When things are going well, I don't write nearly as much.

The supremely positive thing about this is this: I can write original stuff, which is great, since I have to write a novel to get my MA,

Yep, been there. Both in good and bad times so I can most assuredly say that your fan fiction foo will return when it's good and ready. Just keep writing what you feel like writing and you'll be all the more pro when fan fiction inspiration strikes again. And in the meantime, enjoy the original fiction because that's awesome to write, too!

Know the feeling well. Your muse has gone to Barbados without you and won't be back until it's drank all the mai-tais it wanted.

My muse and I have an understanding. It'll leave me alone during work hours and show up once I get home, but I'm so tired when I get home, I don't want to write.

I hope you find you can write fic again, but be happy your muse isn't completely gone and you can still write original things?
