This is so heartbreaking. I can just see wee!Dean already wandering the streets alone at four. The fact that he wants to get the Christmas presents for Sammy is so Dean. *hugs wee!Dean close*

I haven't read John Winchester's diary, but I think it really feels likely that John might get lost in his grief for a little while. I'm so glad that he finally woke up to the fact that his boys need him, too. I know their life is never going to be 'normal' but you've given us a sweet interlude before their life takes a turn into the supernatural.

I really love that little bit at the end where we find out that Mary is watching over them. That's what I've always thought was happening!
