I wonder whether the pro-life lobby have more weight regarding this issue over your side of the pond, as it's my understanding that court decisions here generally go in favour of hospitals when it's about withholding treatment but are very unhappy about imposing treatment on people who don't want it.
Here's a recent case re: heart transplants and there have been others...
There was a kid in my town whose parents are either Jehovah Witnesses or Christian Scientists. The kid was homeschooled, so he didn't have to get all the immunizations that come with public schooling. He came down with dyptheria. (not sure of the spelling, sorry.) Because his parents didn't believe in medicine, they refused any treatment, even though they'd brought him to a doctor to be diagnosed. He died about three weeks later. He was six years old. The parents waited for an hour before calling the fire department, because they knew then he would be really dead, and the ambulance crew couldn't resussitate him

I think the arrest charges would probably be Child Endangerment.
I don't like the idea of government stepping in to rule on or against anyone's belief or non-belief, but alternative medicines and treatments are often harmful. (As a supplement to actual medicine I can see them being a beneficial placebo if that's what the person needs, but as the primary or solitary source of treatment I am very much against it

I don't like the idea of government stepping in to rule on or against anyone's belief or non-belief, but alternative medicines and treatments are often harmful. (As a supplement to actual medicine I can see them being a beneficial placebo if that's what the person needs, but as the primary or solitary source of treatment I am very much against it ( ... )
