We're watching 3rd Rock on Netflix as well. Not only is it simply hilaarious, the descriptions from the first season of each kinda fit the 4 in our house, which makes it even funnier.
Superstitions. I nicknamed them stupidstitions because I know they are dumb and yet they are hard to kick.
All of the ones I have/had are very grounded in reality, just perhaps not *my* reality. When I was a perfomer I embraced a lot of the old circus/sideshow ones, like putting your shoes on a counter is very bad luck. It came from walking in animal poo and then infecting the make-up.
Sleeping where you performed was a bad omen. Stemmed from when carnies were attacked by locals when they slept under the big top.
I refused to allow peacock feathers in the house until recently. I grew up being taught they were the evil eye by my grandmother.
I've kicked them but sometimes it still creeps in...
