Wow, these photos are amazing. The dwellings look like models or something, so neat. And it's awesome that you can walk around them, as opposed to roped off from a distance viewing. Looks like fun :)

They do look like models - especially from a distance.

In truth, you can't walk everywhere, but you can walk around a lot of it. At Aztec you could walk through even more, actually.

What an amazing adventure and pictures! I've always wanted to see some of these places, they are so historical, I can't imagine the feeling being in their presence.

Thanks! You should totally try to go. Fall is one of the best times, I think. Summer is really, really hot and winter can be cold. Spring, as in many places, is a crapshoot. LOL.

That is so freaking cool! From a distance, those ladders look pretty flimsy (and like they're just propped up) and the whole thing looks fantastical. I wonder why they had the keyhole openings up top?

The keyholes are a mystery. In most places, the keyhole doorways are usually the ones that open up onto the main plaza. (It seems that there was once some kind of wooden walkway on that upper floor.) Archaeologists have no idea why the doors are shaped that way, but they surmise that it is purely decorative. Well, either that or it was easier that turning sideways whilst carrying large boxes. LOL.
