So, I was recently outed on PlanetFeedback as a site admin. This in and of itself was not a bad thing...I don't know how it became a secret that I was doing all the admin, really, because there was no reason for it to be. And as well as I've come to know some of the people there, I just feel better with them knowing who I am. I don't have to ( Read more... )

Thats a tough position to be in especially because some of the people that post there are very eloquent in their slams.

I guess just focus on that fact that you are making it more user friendly to all people on the internet. If you want the visitors to post honestly about the good and the bad, you have to make it a safe environment for them. Right now I wouldn't post a negative experience there because I know that people would be telling me I don't "need" my phone service or that I just want to get something free out of it...

And I feel for you because I agree that it is sometimes very hard to tell what is just a response and what is crossing the line into a personal attack. I say if they turn that attack onto you because you banned a comment... ban them. If they are always so volatile you don't need them on the site anyway.

Unfortunately, I'm too visible to just outright ban people...because then rather than getting onesy and twosy people attacking me, I'm going to call down the whole swarm. Preferential treatment! Playing favorites!! Banning because she doesn't like them, not because they did anything against the terms of service!!!!!! They have to make three strikes against the posted guidelines...then and only then can I ban them.

Delicate road.
