"Jewel" was, without question, one of the most infuriating books I've ever read. Didn't you loan it to me saying "You have to read this because it'll make you exceedingly cross" or similar? ;)

I did, because misery just loves company!! Actually, I think my motivation at the time was finding out if it would piss someone else off as much as it pissed me off...and you really liked reading. :o)

you know, the lovely bones really didn't bother me that much. disturbing? yeah. but I actually recommended it to people that were interested in reading it. with the disclaimer "it's okay, but it's a little disturbing at points..."
