Oh sweetheart I'm so sorry!! ♥ I know you have an affinity with snakes and that you've got a very healthy respect for all live *hugs* You couldn't have stopped, it may have caused an accident, just remember that. As for the security guard and the dentists, couldn't find their ass with both hands!! Is there anything I can do?
Aw, bb, you're the sweetest. You really know me about living things--yesterday we discovered the lawn mowing people had completely chopped down a beautiful flowering plant we have, and I cried and cried all over again. :-( :-( Fucking life.
You're so right that it could have caused an accident, but there literally wasn't even time to think about swerving. It breaks my heart because birds and prairie dogs and squirrels can learn to be careful of a road, but it's just not a thing a snake could understand. I also realized he was only on lane two of six (!), plus he might have wandered around by the gutter any amount of time looking for the place where he wanted to cross the median, so the chances of his surviving crossing the road were very slim even if I'd managed to avoid him, but still, why'd it have to be me? :-( Ah, fuck, and now I'm tearing up again.
You are so sweet, bb. Just knowing you're here is a great comfort. <3 <3 <3
Ugh, I can't either, although I'm getting better. I think I've got you straight- New York, works in TV, right? Made a beautiful ballgown out of toiletpaper and such?
This IS a great story, and a great picture! I saw that picture on your fb and always wanted to know the full story. :-) What a beautiful snake! And your expression is priceless. :-D I hope you got your donut!
I did some research on the dentist, because I was so weirded out by the whole thing. Turns out she had just gotten a complaint from the BBB before my last appt, and I suspect she might think it was me who made it, so maybe that's why she was kind of rude, but thinking back on lots of things, I've concluded she may (usually) be very nice, but ... not very good at her job. Definitely time to find somebody new!
Oh yeah, definitely time for a new dentist. I sat in an exam room once for an hour while I listen to the doctor and his staff laughing it up outside and I finally just left and never went back.
No, I think he knew. The first time I saw him, I waited in the waiting room for an hour and then sat in the exam room for almost another hour. Then, when I went back for a follow-up appointment, they sent me back quickly so I thought the first time was a fluke. But after sitting there an hour, and listening to a lot of conversation outside, I finally opened the door. He was there with a couple of nurses or other staff. And I doubt he'd been there an hour, I'm sure he was gabbing in between seeing patients, but you don't chit chat while people sit in your waiting room for a fucking hour. So I opened the door, the three of them stared at me like deer in the headlights, and I said "I'm sorry. I've been in here an hour and I don't have time for this. I've got to go." And I walked out and never saw him again and they didn't bill my insurance, which is almost unfortunate because I would have enjoyed losing my shit over that. ;-)
I'm glad he knew! Hopefully that made him rethink his approach. My dentist before this one (from whom I inherited this dentist--she bought her practice) was SO careful about making sure you never had to wait, and it was GREAT. And NO, you don't chit-chat when someone's been waiting that long. Maybe he could, I dunno, consider only making appts when he's sure he'll be able to see the person in a reasonable amount of time?!
I'm so glad they saw and you said something and that they didn't bill you, because that would've been BULLSHIT.
I am so sorry about the snake! Years ago, a car my husband was driving hit a bluejay. We pulled over the car and gave it a spontaneous little service. We felt so terrible.
((hugs)) Hope the world's better to you when you next venture out!
Ah, thank you. I had to go out again yesterday, and that was a shitty day, too! It all seems like a clear message to stay in, so I've been doing as much of that as possible. Summer's my least favorite season, anyway.
I hate hitting animals (a hazard of living in a fairly wild area), but a snake just can't move any faster than that, you know? :-( That's sweet of you to give the jay a service.

Thanks for the story, bb.

My car broke down yesterday on the way to my brother's house for a barbecue, so I wish I had stayed inside instead!

I hope your car's better! First the door and now this?!
Thanks, hon. <3
