A few people have asked me to post a photo of the quilt--here it is! Despite all the trouble it gave me, I really love the final product. I made it because (I had a lot of fabric scraps I needed to use up and) I needed a light summer quilt, and it really fits the bill. If I recall correctly, the batting is cotton, so it's just the right

Oh wow, that is so gorgeous!! I love the range of color and patterns--scraps make the best finishing products. The way you've arranged them as a sort of gradient--but not without its rebellious sections, which put opposites into thrilling juxtaposition; and yes, I just described a quilt as thrilling--is so cool. I love it! Great job~ And it looks so comfy, too.

THRILLING, YES. I think so, too!

You noticed the gradient! It's actually a sort of impressionistic picture quilt, a landscape: sunset sky at the top, then mountains, trees, vegetation, and finally flowers at the bottom. The quilting is meant to give the impression of these things: mountain-ish shapes in the mountain section, flower shapes in the flowers. Piecing the 9-patches so they go together nicely can be hard, but having the image in mind made it an unusually easy process.

It is comfy, too--the cottony-est feeling of the 3 quilts I've made. :-) I loved your comment, and I'm so glad you love the quilt!
