Well, we'd have made pretty decent time through the canyon if we hadn't gotten stuck IN TOWN RIGHT AFTER WE LEFT in a traffic jam that delayed us nearly an hour. O__O It was all right--we just had fun listening to an MCR CD and singing, but it did delay us by quite a bit. We drove up to this place in pitch darkness. oh, that was so much fun, the country looks really cool.
I had to laugh when you were talking about running out od petrol and then you did (sorry couldn't help myself)

And yes, the country is beautiful out there. I was pleased at the colors my video camera was able to capture, but it still doesn't do it justice ...

I grew up in the West, and I'm MUCH more punkrock than cowboy, but I've really come to enjoy the cowboy aesthetic, especially when it's as charming as that was.

It's amazing that such a desolate landscape could be so beautiful. The place you stayed was very cute inside. The headboard had great colors. I'm glad you managed to get gas. Thanks for posting the vid and letting us travel along. Have a great time at the con.

It amazes me, too. The first time my friend wanted to take us there, I was like, "Why would we want to go to the desert?" But with all the bright colors, red of the dirt, blue of the sky, green of the vegetation, it's incredibly beautiful, like a rainbow on earth, and I've returned many times since. Thanks for traveling along!
