I wasn't sure what to think when I started to read this but I have to say, this was really compelling and a great approach to the material. The parallels work really well - putting the boys into a military context the way you did actually gave the material we all know so well added depth. Even your incorporation of terms like 'purgatory' and the 'pit' resonated perfectly! This was a great one shot but would work equally well as the intro to a Sam and Dean military 'verse. Thanks for a great read!

Pretty cool! When you started out with Smith and Wesson, I expected this to be a rewrite of Its a Terrible Life, where they'd realize who they really were at the end. I like your comparisons to war and addictions.

Damn, I thought I'd already commented on this. Anyway! I really like it. Your parallels are pretty much spot on. For a show called Supernatural, very little of SPN is actually about the supernatural -- the issues are very human ones, and this really shows how easily they translate into a naturalistic setting.

(Also, I'm pretty sure Crowley would love the idea of having a brand of whiskey named after him. Though I suppose maybe not the kind Dean would drink...)
