Oo, loved this. It hits all my hurt-but-badass!Sam buttons and protective!Dean buttons (it reminds me of the epic Sam/Dean "Freak Camp" AU, which I adore). Sam's back story is heartbreaking. I liked that you set it in Minnesota. Was that a nod to "The Benders"? The Home Depot line was hilarious and nicely timed.

HURT-BUT-BADASS!SAM ... PROTECTIVE!DEAN ... SOO my kind of thing, as well. *droool* :-D

Actually, "The Benders" never crossed my mind (although now that you mention it, they're a very similar kind of backwoods freak to Sam's hunter captors!); it just felt like a cold and remote and isolated sort of place, so I went with it.

That was so good, Sam is so damaged but Dean's persistence and love for him won. When Sam threatened the robber not to hurt his brother I gave a little cheer! The things Sam went through as a child were horrific but stupidly it was him not knowing what Disneyland was that made me tear up! Sam's first sexual experience was well handled too. Loved this story.

Aww, I can totally see the Disneyland thing bringing some tears! (And it pleases me that I was able to make you cry with my story! :-D )

I'm glad you liked Sam threatening the robber over Dean! I actually had a ton more I wanted to do with this story, some of which would have tied into that more, but it would have been WAAAY too long and I needed to get to writing other things, so I found a way I could end it here ... but there may yet be another sequel in time; I hope so.
