9.05, or, "Man's Best Friend" the way it should have been the first time around!

I liked this episode. It wasn't quite as tight and every-line-better-than-the-last as some of SPN's finest comedic moments, but it was right up there ( Read more... )

I burst out laughing at the 'gay yorkie' thing. I can see where they got it, but that was not my first take on the yorkie character. He has a Southern drawl that is a little ... flamboyant, and he likes to have Sam rub his belly, but sometimes Southern guys are just like that.

Ah, I'm glad your friend came and watched it with you!!

Sam's plaid is an acquired taste. ;-)

"OMG they're so gonna make out!"

She's already a prime audience for this show!!

Dean and yorkies, I know! Apparently it was the same dog actor as in "Yellow Fever."

Sometimes Southern guys just want their bellies rubbed?

Well ... you know, in the South, you really never know what you're going to get, so ... probably. ;-) But I meant there are some Southern guys who are just flamboyant. Maybe closeted; who knows, but it's treated as simply an eccentricity.

Did anyone else have the thought that this is a deliberate attempt to redeem "Man's Best Friend"?

Then all is forgiven!

Personally, I did read the Yorkie as gay. I don't know anyone (southern or otherwise) who would talk like that who isn't gay. Or female.

And yes, they are bringing the pretty this season and I love it. The makeup artists did I great job making Jared look like hell (heh) last season but I need me some gorgeous Sam and I'm so glad he's back.

Yeeeahhh ... he did call the bad guy a "closet case," and then my friend I watched it with said she thought he was gay. (I also thought it might have been female!) My friend also pointed out the kinds of things he was saying as Sam rubbed his belly, and I chose to read that differently, because if he was enjoying it like THAT, that makes the poodle thing look like Disney! (Wait, Disney would do and has done stuff exactly like that countless times, so ... something actually innocent, then. ;-] ) I think you guys are probably right. (My sister had a gay dog, so I know it's possible!)

*melts* Sam DID look like hell last season, but ... somehow he looked absolutely just as hot to me as ever, even so. When it comes to Sam's looks, there can be no wrong as far as I'm concerned, apparently. (Actually, that SUPER-ripped scene with the pull-ups was so buffed and perfected it took it too far, to my taste; I'd rather he looked less inhumanly perfect. Still, it's not like I'm complaining!!)

I'm sorry, did you say something? I was distracted by your icon.

Yeah, I like my Sammy a little more subtle. The grey v-neck t-shirt is just about perfect.

OH! I am so glad to see someone mention THAT SHIRT. *droooool*...

LOL about "distracted by the icon". Yeeeeah, baby...

I'm with brightly-lit here-- sick!Sam was a big turn-on for me. I can't count the number of times in S8 when I clutched my bosom and cried "Oh, SAM!" *sigh* I must take him home and give him many cuddles and feed him soup. Then more cuddles. Um, and then...

I LOVED the "how YOU doin'" look Dean gave to the poodle, just enjoyed it for what it was. Dean had dog instincts in his mind. That's all it was. And it was played perfectly (lol, I typed pervectly the first time).

I agree. Why are people so uptight about Dean getting hot over a poodle?

Why ARE they? I stay far away from places where wank lives, but I'd like to know.

Glad I'm not the only one! It seemed perfectly in character, and just some silly/fun humor. And yes, Jensen couldn't have done it better!
