I DID get to see 9.02 on bigger-than-a-small-screen t.v.--and in HD, no less! Which actually kinda somehow made it less good, I felt ... like you could see every line in the stage makeup, every seam in the set construction. The one good thing about this was getting to see every little detail of Dean's suppressed emotion pass across his face. A

Oh man, I saw the tiny, non-HD version of the ep and all of Dean's minute facial expressions were still fantastic; for whatever reason JA was really on this week. If my review of 9x01 was basically "THIS WAS SO RIDICULOUS AND I LOVED IT" I think 9x02 for me was "THIS IS SO BAD BUT GOOD LORD THIS IS SO, SO GOOD." I finally watched it yesterday and have been literally unable to keep from going back and watching clips out of it ever since.

I'm about 50/50 on Abaddon right now, because on one hand I love her demon bootcamp/industrialization kick, and on the other, many of her actual scenes throw me back to Jessica Alba in Dark Angel in...unflattering ways. XP (SORRY JA I LOVE YOU but I wouldn't take orders from you.) I'd really like to see more Tracy, because if that's all we get of her... What was the fucking point? XP So four seasons ago, Tracy, so four seasons ago.

I love your gloss of that last scene, as heartbreaking as it is. :(

Oh ... I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking it was bad, especially since 9.03 is virtually guaranteed of being awful (Dread Duo strikes again--and with such an important episode! It's killing me). TRACY, ugh--4 seasons ago--you hit it on the head. Yes, the sexy car model shot was so necessary; thanks, guys, I'd never guess 95% of the people who write/film this thing are male.

Like you said with your review, Dean's speech to Kevin, wtf?? I hope you're right and it's deliberate, if wicked, of Dean, manipulating the hell out of that poor innocent kid who's basically given his life over to Dean and Sam, but I fear it's, "The fans'll eat this shit up; they love their 'feels.'" PLEASE LET THERE BE A POINT. That isn't yet another random OOC turnabout.

I feel like Alaina Huffman needs to settle in her character. She's overplaying some of her lines. I love the idea of a bad-ass woman. And less face it, it's hard to think of a Big Bad who wouldn't be exactly a carbon copy of Crowley or of any of the others. And as a movie buff, I am totally digging the red hair, lipstick and nails.

Aw, man, I disagree. There are a thousand different ways to do evil, if the writers put their minds to it. I love a badass woman, too, but one thing SPN does RIGHT most of the time is that most of our women are badass, so that doesn't strike me as new, either. It seems like most of her fans are fans of the actress, which is cool; she just doesn't strike me the way she seems to strike others ....
